| I thought firestone has free installation when you purchase their tires | | Today, I brought my car to the firestone to have them replace my flat tire. The tire itself cost around $79.00. And I thought the installation fee is free of charge. But the cashier guy still charged me $10. Make it like $100. I asked him why, he then give me all these promotion was over kind of Bull.
Do you have to pay for the labor when you purchased tires from firestone? If you don't have to, I might call their manager and ask why. | |

And do snow tires seem to actually HELP your traction during the winter and in the snow?I personally just had mine put on.. about last weekend. Much later than when it started snowing, which was about a month ago - when it started consistently snowing that is. I find that they seem to sort of help a little bit, but not really.What about you? | Are winter tires necessary? | | So I just moved to Chicago (from Texas) and everyone is telling me how horrible it is to drive in the snow, which is something I've never experienced. Some people have told me that I should get winter tires because I'll be especially vulnerable if I've never driven in the snow before, but they seem expensive and I don't know if I want to spend hundreds of dollars on tires. | | why do people spin their tires? | | I would like to know why people, mostly young men, spin their tires and spew gravel all over other peoples vehicles. There is a young man who drives into our apartment complex to drop off a friend and as he drives in he spins his tires shooting gravel all over and then when he drops off his friend he spins his tires on the way out spitting gravel all over our vehicles. As I am only one of a few that is parked during the day our vehicles get liitle hits on them. So I ask, why do people do this? | |

| How many of you can change your own tires..... | | and do minor work on your own vehicle?
My Dad taught me the basics like checking the fluids, adding the fluids, changing a tire, those type of things. I am no expert, but I can do minor things to my vehicle when I have to. If I am not sure, I call my Dad and he talks me through it over the phone. I am glad that my Dad taught me the things he did, and continues to do so because I may be a woman, but that doesn't meant that I can rely on someone else to do everything for me. Some things, I just have to take the time and do for myself! | |

My understanding is you need to buy in pairs or possible all four together something about the balancing. The problem is when I called to price two tires the least expensive I got was $180.00 for two. I brought tires 2 years for $130.00. I am surprise they increased that much. | I got cut off, stepped on my brakes and heard the squeal of tires .... | | Yes, the other night I was going to my second job and making a left turn, when the guy on my right jumped out in front of me and made a left turn, cutting me off. I stood up on my brakes so I did not hit him. I heard the squeal of tires and I knew I was going to get hit. I braced for impact. I heard the crash...but I felt nothing.
[em]confused[/em]]I then realized that the squeal of tires and the crashing sound was actually a commercial on the radio, it was for a law firm that I will never employ as a result of this commercial[em]thumbdown[/em]How often has something like this happened to you? I really thought I was going to get hit!
